The Dream, The Passion, The Plan.
Some careers begin with a plan. Others begin with a passion that quietly grows over time until the moment comes when it can no longer be ignored. For Traci Stubblefield, owner of Sumner Aesthetics And Laser, that passion started long before she ever stepped into a treatment room. It began in childhood, with curiosity, creativity, and a love for helping others feel confident in their own skin.
Today, that same passion drives everything she does, from caring for her clients to mentoring the Dream Team of aestheticians who work alongside her.
A Childhood Spark That Never Went Away
Traci’s love for aesthetics began when she was just a little girl. Her mother worked a side job as an Avon representative, and the catalogs were always nearby. While other kids might have flipped through magazines for toys, Traci found herself fascinated by skincare and beauty products. She loved studying them, imagining routines, and experimenting with makeup.
By the time she was in fourth grade, she was already serious about skincare and makeup. It was not just about appearance. It was about confidence, creativity, and self care.
As she grew older, that passion never faded. She often did makeup for friends heading out for special occasions or weekend events. Helping others feel beautiful came naturally to her, even then.
Still, life took her in a different direction at first.
A Different Path Before the Right One
After graduating high school, Traci followed the path her parents encouraged. College came first. She earned a degree in public relations, marketing, and psychology, building skills that would later become invaluable in her business and leadership journey.
Even with that education, the dream of working in aesthetics never left her heart. For years, she believed the opportunity had passed. She thought it might be too late to pursue what she truly loved.
Then life changed.
After marrying her husband Brian, the two spent time working together in business. When the housing market crashed, they were forced to close their first company. It was a difficult and uncertain season. But sometimes, what feels like a setback becomes the very moment that opens a new door.
During that challenging time, Traci made a decision that would change everything.
She told Brian she did not want to return to a desk job. She wanted to follow the passion she had carried since childhood. Brian supported her completely, encouraging her to go after her dream.
That support became the foundation for a new beginning.
Starting Over With Purpose
While Brian partnered with Jimmy Murphy to help build Hendersonville Jewelers, Traci enrolled in the Beauty Institute to pursue aesthetics. From the very beginning, she immersed herself in learning. She often says she “ate, drank, and studied skin,” fully committed to mastering the craft.
Her career began about 20 years ago at Aveda, just one week after graduating from school. Not long after, she was recruited to work in a physician’s practice, where she continued developing her skills and experience.
Later, she joined Dr. Lois Wagstrom, where she would spend 15 years building deep expertise, relationships, and leadership skills. Those years shaped her both professionally and personally, preparing her for something she did not yet realize was coming.
Throughout that journey, Traci saw God’s hand guiding her path. Even in uncertain moments, doors continued to open at the right time.
Courage at 52
At 52 years old, Traci found the courage to take the biggest step of her career. She launched Sumner Aesthetics And Laser, a business built not just on skincare treatments, but on relationships, mentorship, and faith.
Starting a business later in life can feel intimidating, but for Traci it felt right. She knew she wanted to go further. She wanted to create a place where clients felt cared for and where future aestheticians could grow.
She also knew she did not get there alone.
Traci often speaks about the love and support she has received from the Sumner County community, her family, and the many people who believed in her along the way. One of those important influences is Carol Sullivan, a longtime colleague and mentor who worked alongside her for many years and now serves as an injector next door to Sumner Aesthetics And Laser. Their friendship and professional connection continue to be a blessing in Traci’s life.
Faith at the Center
For Traci, aesthetics is not just a profession. It is a calling. Her faith plays a central role in how she approaches her work and relationships.
She often talks about the “God moments” she experiences in her treatment rooms. Conversations with clients become more than skincare consultations. They become opportunities for connection, encouragement, and sometimes healing beyond the surface.
Traci believes those moments are part of God’s plan for her life. The difficult seasons she experienced were not the end of her story. They were the beginning of a new chapter that allowed her to walk fully in the purpose she had carried since childhood.
Her gratitude for that path is clear in everything she does.
The Dream Team
One of Traci’s greatest joys today is working alongside the team God placed in her life. At Sumner Aesthetics And Laser, she leads a group of talented and passionate aestheticians who share her commitment to learning, growth, and client care.
Mackenzie Faye Holley, Hailey Rawls, and Rodica Brank are more than coworkers to Traci. They are the next generation of professionals she is proud to mentor and support. She speaks about them with pride, calling them amazing, eager to learn, and destined to go far in the industry.
Her goal is not just to lead them, but to help them develop the same level of skill, knowledge, and confidence she worked decades to build. She believes in teaching, guiding, and paying forward what others once invested in her.
In Traci’s eyes, mentorship is part of the responsibility of success.
She believes experienced professionals should help younger aestheticians grow into knowledgeable, compassionate leaders in the field. That philosophy shapes the culture inside Sumner Aesthetics And Laser.
More Than Skin Deep
While treatments and technology are important, Traci always returns to the heart of the work. For her, success has never been about money. It has always been about people.
Helping clients improve their skin health, seeing their confidence grow, and building lasting relationships mean everything to her. The transformations she witnesses are not just physical. They are emotional and personal.
Those moments remind her why she chose this path.
Now in its second year of business, Sumner Aesthetics And Laser continues to grow, supported by a strong team, loyal clients, and a community that believes in Traci’s vision.
A Life of Purpose
Looking back, Traci sees how every step of her journey prepared her for where she is today. The Avon catalogs, college education, business challenges, career experiences, mentorships, and faith all came together to create something meaningful.
What once felt like difficult seasons became opportunities. What once felt like closed doors became new beginnings.
Today, Traci Stubblefield stands exactly where she was meant to be, doing the work she loves, serving clients she cares deeply about, and guiding a Dream Team that will carry the future of aesthetics forward.
And through it all, she remains grateful for the path God placed before her, a path that began with a little girl flipping through Avon books and dreaming about helping others feel beautiful.
